The 5 Things You Should Know about Real Big Words

INTRO TO US
Written by Melissa Mapes, Founder
It's tempting to think, "Well, everyone else seems to be doing it, so it must be effective." But that's not how you stand out.
Content is not a new concept. Nor is user experience. But truly adding value to a brand requires a wholistic understanding of the overlap between business goals and customer needs. You can't win with one-size-fits-all strategies.

I started Real Big Words because I know how difficult it is to develop a unique, well-defined content strategy that works. Sure, best practices and industry awareness are essential, but it's not going to help you stand out. At Real Big Words, we focus on your specific company and audience to customize an approach that builds trust with customers and helps secure long term success.

Without totally giving up the secret sauce, here are five key things that set us apart.
1
No B.S.
We keep things very real, which is why it's in our name. You need to be 100% authentic to pass the smell test with today's content-inundated audiences. Brands are often hesitant to sound like a human and share a bit of their true selves, which limits impact. Others try to capitalize on false empathy and find themselves committing major faux paus (ahem, Pepsi).

I say this all the time: you can't form a strong connection with users unless you cut out corporate B.S. and give your company some heart. Real heart.
2
Bold statements
"Fortune favors the bold." That's a Latin proverb, so you know it's smart, right? Pliny the Elder said this to his army in AD 79, and it's still great advice nearly 2,000 years later.

You can't be afraid to do something big. Playing it safe all the time is a guaranteed ticket to mediocrity. Not every blog post or tweet needs to be exceptional, but if you never feel uncomfortable, then you're not pushing your brand to its full potential.
3
K.I.S.S.
This stands for Keep It Stupid Simple—a principle that especially applies to UX. Users have a goal in mind when they visit or use your product. Bells and whistles will rarely help them achieve said goal. You can make your experience fun, polished, or whatever you're going for without adding extra steps that are meant to impress (but actually just add clutter).
4
All pro
Real Big Words is a collective of pro writers across related disciplines, including content strategy, copywriting, and UX. We help companies outsource projects in these areas to some of the best in the biz. These experts generally have full time gigs and they offer their talents to Real Big Words as a side hustle.

Our model is a win for both our freelancers and our clients. Brands get top-quality work and save time and money on in-house resources. Freelancers make some extra cash and expand their portfolios beyond their day jobs.
5
Easy communication
We keep you in the loop every step of the way. If you have a question, you can always ping us and we will reply as soon as humanly possible. If we see an opportunity to adjust a strategy, we will let you know sooner than later. Real Big Words is your content partner in every sense of the word.
So there you have it! These five things are the major ingredients in the Real Big Words recipe. If you want to know more, shoot me an email at gobig@realbigwords.com.
